Conclusion

Over the course of writing this book, I have researched just about every aspect of the two major factors impacting a pet’s fitness: what dogs and cats eat and how much activity they engage in on a daily basis. What I have learned is that our pet’s heath is so similar to ours that we should do all we can to stay healthy together. Cats and dogs have been our domesticated companions for centuries; doing all we can to optimize our relationship with our pets continues to be a mutually beneficial endeavor.

The bond you can create with your dog or cat by playing with them is one that will last a lifetime. Showing your love and affection through physical interaction with your pet is so much healthier than rewarding him or her through snacks and treats. Making the commitment to venture outdoors with your dog can prove as beneficial to your health as his; and with a little patience, you can even take long walks with your cat.

Playing with your pet is about more than walks; interacting through toys, games, puzzles, and even volunteer activities allows your pet to live a fuller life and gives you an opportunity to experience quality time with your pet. If pet therapy can be used to benefit adults and children going through illness, degenerate diseases, stress, or recovery situations, then spending more time with your dog or cat will benefit you and improve your quality of life as well.

This book also covered a lot of ground in terms of what and how you should feed your cat or dog. Regardless of which feeding options your dog or cat takes to best, I think the greatest benefit this book offers is an expansive look at the options that are available to you. I have no doubt you will find feeding options that work extraordinarily well for you and your pet within these pages.

My final advice is one that I have repeated several times over the course of this book; take the recommendations, guidelines, and suggestions within these pages and modify them for your pet’s specific personality. Always remember to enjoy your dog or cat for the amazing individual he or she is.
