city called Tus in Persia (now Iran), there was a wise man named Al-Ghazali. He was born in the year 1058. Al-Ghazali became one of the most famous scholars in the world. He loved to read books and learn new things. His real name was Abu Hamid Muhammad ibn Muhammad al-Ghazali, but people called him Al-Ghazali.

When Al-Ghazali was a young boy, he went to school to learn about religion and science. He studied very hard and became very smart. Al-Ghazali loved to ask questions and find answers. He wanted to know everything about the world and about God.
