CHAPTER 34

Scorned Love

Danny had barely closed the door before Nia's bikini top landed on his head.

He ripped the bra off his eyes, turning toward the bed. Nia fumbled around in her nightstand drawer and pulled out a prescription bottle. She poured a little of the white powder on her index and sniffed. Then she pranced seductively toward the edge of the bed and motioned for Danny to come forward.

“Here, have some of this.” She shoved her index finger, layered with white powder under his nose.

He stopped the assault, roughly grabbing her wrist. Nia hadn't changed a bit. She was nothing but a junkie in angelic clothing. Danny gritted his teeth in frustration.

“Get that shit outta my face.”

“Oh come on. It's herbal. Totally legal.” She gave him a sexy smile. “It'll just relax you and take that stick outta your ass.”

“I'm fine,” Danny said, glaring at her. Disgust for Nia churned in his stomach. Glancing around the room, he wanted to be anywhere but here. He needed to make a smooth exit though, because they still had to work together.

Damn, another nine fucking weeks. Maybe it would be better to take a loss on this one. The contract he and Nia signed had a buyout clause. If Danny failed to promote the album, he would pay her $250,000. If he failed to make a concert appearance, he would pay her $250,000. Although it wasn't a huge chunk of money, he hated to renege on his obligations. Plus, he stood to make at least eight million from endorsements, album, and ticket sales.

Stay cool.

“You don't trust me?”

“Hmm?” Danny broke away from his mental accounting session.

“They're doctor recommended. I just crushed them up ‘cause I like sniffing it.”

“I don't sniff anything anymore.”

“But just this once, for me? I bet you'll like it.” Nia licked the powder off her finger and ran her tongue up and down the digit as she stared at Danny. “I know I do, but if you don't think you can handle it, I understand. I'm just surprised you don't trust me.”

Despite the growing arousal her display was bringing about, he wasn't going to let her cloud the issue. “If they're just vitamins, why are you hiding them in a prescription bottle?”

“It's nobody's business what I do. People are less likely to judge when they think it's a doctor's script.” She winked. “Are you avoiding me like the plague because you think I'm still getting high? Because I'm clean, just like you are, honest to God,” she said, raising her right hand and holding the other over her heart. “I miss the feeling, you know? Sometimes sniffing makes me feel better, even if it's just vitamins. Don't tell anyone I told you that okay?”

She turned away, but stopped when Danny grabbed her wrist.

The feeling of powder shooting up his nostril and illuminating his nerve endings? Yeah, he could relate.

He took the bottle out of her hand, tasted a bit of the contents. Bitterness coated his tongue. He poured some on his finger and filled one nostril and then the other. The sensation of snorting burned for a second, but Danny was soon washed in a calm feeling that made him strangely energized. It felt like coke, and yet it wasn't. He smiled at Nia and passed her the bottle. She was right. Even if it was fake, it was fun. He made a mental note to write down the vitamin combo before he left.

With her teeth, she unbuttoned his jeans and pulled down the zipper. He eagerly ripped off the pants and black boxer shorts. They landed next to the bikini bra. With his hands on his hips he leaned back and enjoyed the blow job Nia proceeded to lavish on him. Just before he reached the max, he grabbed Nia and turned her around. He grabbed a fistful of her hair and tore into her, doggy style. Nia laughed and begged for him to go harder. He was surprised at how long he was able to last.

Go vitamins.

When he was finally spent, he quickly dressed.

She looked at him sprawled across the bed. A frown marred her face.

“You're leaving?”

“You said you wanted me to show you how it was between us, so I did.” He'd worried about ruffling feathers earlier, but something had changed since they'd slept together. Now he didn't care about burning bridges. Who was she to think she deserved him anyway? The lunch was nothing more than a demand to get back together. Nia was stupid.

No woman demanded anything from him. Especially not her. Whatever magic Nia possessed had fizzled away. She made him so uncomfortable, he couldn't think straight. Thanks to her vitamins though, he was beginning to see everything in crystal clear clarity. He zipped up his pants and snatched the bottle of powder off the bed.

“You don't mind if I take these do you?” He stuffed them into his pocket before waiting for her answer. “See you in the studio.” He blew her a kiss and walked out the door. He paid no attention to the dumbfounded look on Nia's face.

As he walked down the hallway, Nia's peals of laughter followed him.
