This year we dedicate this volume to Gordon Van Gelder, a stubborn and heroic figure in contemporary SF, who not only kept The Magazine of Fantasy & Science Fiction going for another year by dint of enormous effort, but made it, in our opinion, the best of the venues for science fiction in 2008.
