This is supposed to be enough for a family of four –
but I have to make loads more to feed my
ridonkulously sporty, hungry big brothers!
You need:
500g dried pasta
A handful of frozen peas (or sweetcorn if, like Dan, you don’t like anything green)
2 tins of tuna
300ml carton of cream (fresh or long life)
Salt and pepper
A saucepan
A microwave-proof bowl
A microwave!
A grater
A plate
A tin-opener
A big ovenproof dish
A sieve
A big spoon
An oven!
This is what you need to do:
1. Put the oven on to heat up to 180°C/gas mark 4.
2. Cook the pasta in boiling water in the saucepan for about 2 minutes less than it says on the packet.
While it’s cooking:
a. cook the peas or sweetcorn in the microwave for 3 minutes
b. grate the cheese onto the plate
c. drain the tuna and put it into the big ovenproof dish.
3. When the pasta is done, strain it in the sieve and put it into the dish with the tuna. Add the peas or sweetcorn, pour the cream over and add half of the cheese and some salt and pepper. Give it a good stir. Then sprinkle the rest of the cheese over the top.
4. By now the oven should be at the right temperature. Bung the dish in the oven and cook it for about 15 to 20 minutes till it goes a bit brown on top.
5. BE VERY CAREFUL when you put the dish in the oven and EVEN MORE CAREFUL when you take it out again. ALWAYS USE OVEN GLOVES and remember to put the hot dish onto a mat or a trivet or something so it doesn’t burn anything.
You might want to make a salad to go with it, but in the winter, The Brothers like it with baked beans. (Me too!)
It’s dead yummy – promise!
