Florida State Parks with Live On-Site Volunteers
The Florida State Parks are divided into Districts which represent different regions of the State. These are District 1 – Northwest Region, District 2 – Northeast Region, District 3 – Central Region, District 4 – Southwest Region and, District 5 – Southeast Region. Each has their own District Park Manager, and District Volunteer Coordinator assigned. The District Park Manager is in charge of each of the Park Managers and the District Volunteer Coordinator will send applications to the parks within their region for consideration. Then the park’s Volunteer Coordinator will contact the applicants directly.
Below we have included the district number next to the park name but listed the parks in alphabetically order. You can download a Florida State Parks Book directly from the website and it includes a map of Florida divided into regions and parks listed within the district.
It should be noted that some parks have campground hosts only, some have residential or park hosts only and some have both. Campground Hosts have campsites in the campground, whereas, the Park/Residential Hosts are generally placed in a Volunteer Village located at or near the parks shop area. These campsites are generally reserved for the volunteers who have mechanical, carpentry, or other skills needed behind the scenes as it were, including maintaining trails, working in the ranger station, cleaning the “day-use” areas, etc. The campground hosts are there to keep the campground area and buildings cleaned, the area mowed and trimmed and assist the campers.
We originally collected this information into an Excel spreadsheet. If you would like me to send you a copy of the spreadsheet to aid in your own volunteering research please contact me directly via email: jolene.macfadden@southernladiesadventures.com
We offer this spreadsheet for FREE to anyone who has bought our book as a bonus!
