DAIRY QUEEN: CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE DOUGH BLIZZARD (MEDIUM)
SAVE: 209 CALORIES, 30 G FAT, 14 G SAT. FAT
It’s apparently a Dairy Queen tradition that after your Blizzard is made, it must be turned upside down for you to view that it won’t run out of the cup . . . or, I suppose, leave your hips for a very long time. If you exert the muscle necessary to mash the ice cream in my version (instead of just waiting for it to melt), you’ll not only be able to continue the tradition of turning it upside down, you’ll burn a few calories—maybe even build up your biceps—in the process. Please note, however, that you’ll need to serve it in a Styrofoam cup to turn it upside down. It will slide out of a glass no matter how thick it is.
2¾ cups fat-free, sugar-free vanilla ice cream
2 tablespoons fat-free milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ recipe Dairy Queen Blizzard Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough
1 tablespoon chocolate syrup
PLACE the ice cream in a mixing bowl. With a wooden spoon, mash until it is slightly softened and can be stirred. Add the milk and vanilla. Stir to blend well. Add the cookie dough. Stir to mix well. Quickly swirl in the chocolate syrup. Transfer the mixture to a 16-ounce (2-cup) Styrofoam cup. Serve with a spoon.

DRIVE-THRU If you prepare one recipe of the cookie dough, you can have extra on hand when you feel a Blizzard craving coming. Shape the dough balls and place them, not touching, on a freezer-proof plate or tray. Freeze for about 1 hour, or until solid. Pack single serving amounts in small resealable plastic freezer bags.
EVEN BETTER This is another recipe that, no matter how you scoop it, just doesn’t qualify as a sensible serving. This is a good one to enjoy with a Blizzard buddy. BEFORE YOU START Do not attempt to bake the chocolate chip cookie dough mixture into cookies, since it’s not a true cookie dough made with eggs.
Do not substitute fat-free frozen yogurt for the fat-free ice cream unless you love the frozen yogurt and it has a pronounced vanilla flavor. Most frozen yogurts have an aftertaste that will overpower the other ingredients.
