PROHIBITION POSTCARD. During Prohibition in Seattle, from 1916 to 1933, many people took a road trip north to Canada to load up on liquor. In 1933, Gov. Clarence Martin advised the establishment of a state monopoly on the sale of hard liquors and the licensing of beer and wine sales.
