Arches hot-pressed watercolor paper
blue and yellow hues of your choice
small round
Lay down a strong area of color where you want your foliage to be. Use a strong medium yellow and a cool, intense blue. Use the yellow (or a much lighter green) where you want to suggest sunstruck foliage, keeping these areas relatively warm.
Wet the area of your tree’s canopy, blending just enough to get a good varied green rather than two separate hues of yellow and blue. Use a few lacy brushmarks around the edge to suggest leaves.
When the first wash is thoroughly dry, go back in and add however much detail you wish. Use more cool blue to define shadows and suggest some leaf masses within the overall tree.
