Day 3 Way, Truth, Life

Words from the Rock

I am the way, and the truth, and the life. The only way to the Father is through me. If you really knew me, you would know my Father, too. But now you do know him, and you have seen him.

John 14:6–7 NCV

Three rather ordinary-sounding words—way, truth, life. Yet when you connect these three little words to Jesus, they become everything. Really, what more do we need?

Jesus is the way. He’s going to get us where we need to go. Once we believe in him, it’s like we’ve climbed aboard this incredible ship that will transport us to God. Sure, there could be some rough seas, and it might not always look like he’s taking us where we want to go, but he will get us to the right destination. And it’ll be a voyage we’ll never forget.

Jesus is the truth. We live in a world filled with tricksters. Deception and lies come at us on a regular basis, and sometimes it’s hard to know just who’s really telling you the truth. Perhaps it’s enticing but false claims made by marketing gurus trying to sell their “latest greatest,” an enemy posing as a friend, or someone trying to scam us on the Internet. But Jesus is the truth. His love and forgiveness are authentic. We can take him at his word and never be disappointed. He is the real deal.

Jesus is the life. Without Jesus, we’re not really living. Oh, we might be breathing and eating and walking, but we won’t be truly alive. Jesus is like an incredible life transfusion that restores us and invigorates us to a place where we really engage, where we become passionate, and where we truly experience the fullness of life God planned for us from the beginning. That’s really living!

My Prayer

Dear God,

Thank you for being all that I need—the perfect formula. You’re the way to get me there, the truth I can count on, and the life that energizes me into action.

Amen.

Final Word

What you hope for is kept safe for you in heaven. You first heard about this hope when you believed the true message, which is the good news.

Colossians 1:5 CEV

Stone for the Journey
