Day 5 Full Disclosure

Words from the Rock

The Spirit of truth will bring glory to me, because he will take what I have to say and tell it to you. All that the Father has is mine. That is why I said that the Spirit will take what I have to say and tell it to you.

John 16:14–15 NCV

Everyone has seen news flashes. Maybe they’re text messages or blurbs on TV or headlines on the internet. They might be something shocking or sensational, like a jetliner went down, a rock star died, or there’s been a shooting. You’re given just enough information to pique your interest. Naturally, you want to find out more, and as you investigate, you might discover that the news event is so recent that you can’t get to the bottom of it. You might even be getting false information. Or you could find out that the story’s been way overblown just to get you to tune in to some irresponsible news source.

It’s not like that with Jesus. Because God has made everything known to him, he likewise wants to make everything known to you. Jesus wants you to understand things like God’s love and forgiveness, how important it is to obey him, and God’s plan for your life. He can do this through his Spirit. Of course, he won’t do it all at once since that would blow your mind. But he will inform you of what you need when you need it. You can trust that his revelations will be honest and accurate.

Your responsibility is to stay tuned in to him. Instead of listening to unreliable sources—ones that may or may not be right—you need to make sure you’re getting your information from God’s sources, via things like the Bible, God’s Spirit, or wise and trusted counsel. You can trust that, in the right timing—when you stay connected and obedient—what you need to know will be made known to you. You will not be misled or left in the dark because Jesus promises to give you full disclosure.

My Prayer

Dear God,

I want to know your plans for my life. Thank you for promising to reveal to me what I need to know. Help me to stay tuned in to your Spirit.

Amen.

Final Word

God was kind and decided that Christ would choose us to be God’s own adopted children.

Ephesians 1:5 CEV

Stone for the Journey

God’s Spirit keeps me informed so I can follow him.
