Chapter 15

Adlee

I blink my eyes open and am surrounded by unfamiliar surroundings. I’m on my side and there is a hard, warm body up against mine. Skin meets skin, and I suddenly remember I’m in my boss’s bed.

I fucked my boss last night.

After a few ounces of whiskey, I’m now the office ho. What did I do?

I close my eyes, willing the memories to come back. He’d eaten me out and I’d squirted all over his face.

I’d only been with a couple of boyfriends before. They were nothing like this. I’m embarrassed to admit I’ve never had my pussy eaten like that before. My ex, Rob, tried, but I really didn’t get anything out of it. I’d faked an orgasm just so he’d stop trying, then let him fuck me, after which he’d fall asleep.

That was nothing like this. The attraction I have for Kelton is unmatched. Sleeping with my boss after a few kisses and some whiskey? What is wrong with me? But let’s be real, it wasn’t only the whiskey. It’s been a building explosion of attraction for a while now.

I have no idea what time it is. There are no clocks in here and I have no clue where my phone is. Probably near my clothes. I gingerly lift my head from the pillow to find my clothes strewn everywhere. I dip my shoulder down to get out of Kelton’s embrace and quietly slide out of bed. My phone is almost dead but the time reads 6:02 a.m. I quickly dress and give one last glance at Kelton sleeping soundly. He’s naked, only the sheet covering his lower half. He looks so delicious I’m tempted to crawl back into bed and wait for him to wake so I can have more orgasms, but I don’t. I quietly slide out the door and tiptoe my way down the hall to my own room, carrying my boots and phone.

Once inside, I breathe a sigh of relief. There’s no way I’m going back to sleep, so I plug in my phone to charge, then take a long, hot shower, trying not to dwell on what happened last night. I can’t believe I slept with my boss! I scrub the shampoo into my scalp with my fingertips and groan at how good it feels. Then I wash myself, wincing slightly at the soreness between my legs.

My boss has a huge cock.

Bigger than I’ve ever had.

And I want more of it.

After the shower, I dry off and pick through the closet to find the perfect outfit. I pluck up the red skirt I’d packed but never thought I’d wear, but today, I will. It hugs my ass perfectly, and since Kelton said he loved my backside, he’s getting a full view of it today.

I check the schedule to see we’re meeting at nine to review the next year’s budget. Sounds like a snoozefest, but all I have to do is take notes. I do full hair and makeup, then walk over to the window, looking down at the town. The roads appear to be somewhat clear, and a few cars navigate them, so it looks like I won’t be playing cafeteria worker today. Not that I minded. That was much more fun than sitting through a boring luncheon with a bunch of suits and their spouses.

I gaze at myself in the full-length mirror and decide my white top needs another button undone. I pop it open, just the right amount of cleavage showing. The black pumps I’d chosen go great with the outfit and I swipe my long hair over one shoulder to rest on my left side.

With one last pop of red lipstick, I pucker my lips to blend the color, grab my bag, and head down to the conference room.

I’m honestly not surprised that Kelton’s treating me like his secretary. He’s got no other choice. It’s a relief, really. If he’d treated me any different, people would notice and tongues would start wagging. We can’t have that. It’s also kind of fun and exciting to have this secret.

I take notes where I’m supposed to, and once the dull-ass budgetary meeting is done, it’s time for lunch. I stuff the meeting notes into my bag, preferring to write them down instead of taking notes on my electronic tablet, and set my bag down on a nearby chair. Nearly everyone has left to go eat, as today was a buffet-style lunch in the main dining room, but I stayed back.

Kelton looks at the door as it closes behind the last shareholder, then to me. “Something on your mind, Miss Phillips?”

I’m unsure if his use of formality is teasing or if he’s going to ignore what happened last night, so I say, “Did you sleep well? Mr. Fox.”

A grin appears briefly and disappears, replaced by his usual businesslike expression. “I did. Until about six a.m.”

I bite back a smile. “Me too. But I needed a shower and time to think.”

“About what?” he asks, shuffling papers and stuffing them into his briefcase. He looks so handsome in a white shirt and sky-blue tie that matches his eyes.

“About... a lot of things. Mr. Fox.”

He glances at the door, then back at me. “Listen, Adlee. I really enjoyed last night, and if there was a lock on that door, I’d fuck you again on this table. But, we have to be cool about this. Discreet.”

The mention of him fucking me on the table has my stomach clenching and my panties dampening. “I understand. But we’ll get another chance to...” I gaze at his neutral expression I’m determined to make falter. “Be less discreet later?”

He glances at the door again, then to me. “Absolutely. Now, go get something to eat. You’ll need your strength later.”

I giggle involuntarily at that. “Yes, sir.”

I turn on my heel, my phone in my hand, and swish my hips a little more than needed, knowing his eyes are on my ass. Once I reach the door, my hand on the knob, I turn and look over my shoulder. “You should power up too, cowboy. You’re going to need it.”

I’m glad to see the full staff back in the kitchen. I don’t know if I’m allowed in here, but I feel like I’ve earned it after yesterday.

Darnell greets me as soon as he sees me. “Hey, girl!”

“Hi, Darnell. Quite the storm we had, huh?” I ask, jutting my thumb behind me at the windows.

“Yeah. I couldn’t even get out of my driveway it was so bad. I spent the whole night shoveling.” He shakes his head as he throws some rice into a rice cooker.

I cringe a little at that. Did he even get any sleep? I know the kitchen staff have to be here at around four a.m.

“I hope you got some rest,” I reply with a smile.

He chuckles and closes the lid to the rice cooker. “Girl, I sat around all day. Trust me, I didn’t need much sleep.”

Glad to hear it, I pat him on the shoulder and exit the kitchen. I run into Bernice, who has a big smile on her face. Her dress is red today, a big reindeer face with a large red nose lit up in lights flashing on her chest.

“Hi, Adlee! Did you sleep well?” she asks cheerily.

I swallow down a salacious grin. “I did. What about you?” I know Bernice lives here with her husband, but I know nothing else about her personal life.

“Like a baby,” she replies. “Kitchen staff is hard at work. Doing some Asian-inspired dishes today.”

I smile. “I can’t wait.”

“How’s Mr. Fox?” she asks me.

I furrow my brow. “What do you mean?”

“Well, you’re his secretary, right?”

I cringe at the title. I hate it. “Yeah, sure. I mean, he’s fine, I guess.” I shrug casually to try to throw her off, but something tells me the woman is way more intuitive than anyone gives her credit for. I’ve heard she tries to play matchmaker with everyone, and I don’t need that stress.

“Good to hear. You take care of him, all right, dear?” She pats me on the shoulder and continues on her way to the kitchen without waiting for an answer.

I shake my head with a grin. Obviously nothing gets past her.

They announce the food is ready so I head to the dining hall and hang back until the board members and other resort guests are in line for food. I picked at a raspberry Danish at breakfast, but I need some protein.

“Aren’t you going to eat?”

I shiver as Kelton’s deep timbred voice sounds in my ear. I turn and look up at him. “Yeah, when everyone’s served.”

He smiles down at me. “Go. Eat. You’ve had a long night. I know you need sustenance.”

I purse my lips to keep from smiling and walk toward the serving line without looking back, as badly as I want to. I wish we could skip the rest of the day and go jump into bed together. Just the thought of it has me wet. I sway my hips a little more, giving my boss another view of my ass.

Once seated, we eat in the boardroom and have a working lunch. I eat quickly because I know I have to take notes. The afternoon is filled with boring numbers and purchases and sales of properties and other stuff that goes over my head. I watch Kelton closely and he is nothing but professional. He doesn’t throw me any bedroom eyes or sultry looks. Makes me wonder if he’s had experience with this before.

Has he slept with any of his previous assistants? If so, what happened to them? Was it only for fun? Or did they want more, and then he let them go when they tried to take things to the next level?

I’m not sure what this is between us. Even though he promised more sex, would we, though? And if we did, where would it lead? Too many questions. I need to protect my heart in case it’s just sex for him. Very good, satisfying sex. The man knows his way around a woman’s body for sure.

Focus, Adlee.

The afternoon drones on, and finally, it’s time to relax. I’m looking forward to staying in my room and ordering room service and bingeing some shows. Unless Kelton has other plans.

After everyone files out of the room and we’re alone, Kelton looks at the door closing after the last person and turns to me. “We’re going night snowboarding.”

I raise one eyebrow. “You’re going night snowboarding. I’m going to take my fully intact, unbroken bones to my room and order room service and stay warm.”

He grins at me, standing in my space and making me nervous. “No, you’re coming.”

“Do we have to do this again? I went skiing with you and didn’t object.” I fold my arms across my chest.

“Yes, you did object. Like you’re doing now. But you liked it. You’ll like this, too.”

I huff dramatically. “I don’t know how to snowboard, let alone in the dark. Not to sound facetious, but that sounds dangerous as hell.”

He chuckles. “It is. That’s why it’s fun. I already bought two snowboards. You can go down with me.”

“If you take me, you’ll definitely be going down. On your ass. Probably head over heels, down.”

He grabs his briefcase and walks toward the door. “Be ready in an hour.”

I watch in disbelief as he exits, giving me no choice. The nerve! If he didn’t have a damn code to my room door, I’d hide in there all night. But something tells me he’d use it to come and drag me out to the slopes. Why do they even run at night? How dangerous is that?

I groan and head to catch up with him. I have questions.

Jogging in these stupid heels, I meet him at the elevator and am grateful we’re the only two in here.

“Listen,” I start, “I know you want me to go, but seriously, Kelton. That sounds really dangerous and I’m scared. What if I go and cheer you on from the sidelines? Or strap your phone to your chest and turn on video-chat and we can snowboard together? You doing your adrenaline-fueled activity, and me, warm in the lounge bar drinking a hot toddy? I bet Bernice would join me, too—”

I’m cut off when he leans down and kisses me. He drops his briefcase and grabs the back of my head, kissing me hard and fast. Once the elevator dings, indicating it’s about to stop, he pulls back and stares down at me with his chest heaving. “You talk too much.”

He exits the elevator and doesn’t look back at me as he walks to his room, uses his phone to unlock the door, and disappears inside.

Rude.

I grin. That kiss was something else, though.
