This book and its illustrations are not intended to be used as a field guide. Always take a good field guide with you when you are foraging for edibles. I recommend A Field Guide to Edible Wild Plants: Eastern and Central North America by Lee Allen Peterson, published by Houghton Mifflin, or Edible Wild Plants: A North American Field Guide by Thomas S. Elias and Peter A. Dykeman, published by Sterling.
Never guess at what you are picking. If you aren’t 100 percent sure, don’t pick! For safety’s sake, do not taste or use any plant that you cannot positively identify.
The author and publisher are not responsible for any mistakes one might make in the field. Please be very, very careful.
