The dauphin says
he believes
that I am
sent by God,
yet he requires
more assurance.
I do not doubt
that he is the one
true king of France,
but I wonder
if sometimes
he does.
It is as though
Charles requires
heavenly hosts
to fly overhead
and proclaim
in glorious
and melodic unison
that he is
king.
Perhaps it is easier
for others
to believe in you
than it is
to believe
in yourself.
