I texted Game to make sure that I had her correct room number as I had been knocking for a few minutes and gotten no answer.

I know this girl didn’t run away again.

Game let me know that it was indeed room 112, so I knocked harder before the door was finally opened. Anna had on a white terry cloth robe as she wiped the sleep out of her eyes.

“Is it time for me to check out?” she asked meekly.

“Well, not quite, but I would like for you to get your things and come with me.” She looked at me skeptically.

“Look, you can’t afford to stay cooped up in this hotel for too long so let me help you. You don’t have to feel no type of way about it because I was in your exact place before,” I lied, hoping that she would let me help her if she thought that we had something in common and I wasn’t judging her.

She got what little she had and rode with me to the K-Spot.

“Why are we here? she asked. “Oh my god, are you going to give me a job?” she asked excitedly.

“Wellll, right now I have enough staff, maybe too much, but I do have something else for you.” We walked to the back where I had a spare room. I opened the door and she looked like she was wowed. My small storage room had been transformed into a nice little chill spot. It had a flat screen TV on the wall, a shaggy black rug on the floor, an air bed and a mini fridge.

“Is this for me?” she asked lowly.

“Yep. It isn’t much, but it is a stable place for you to lay your head until you get on your feet.

“Oh my god, thank you so much.” She hugged me so tightly and cried a little. I could tell this girl had really been through a lot.

“Now I’m trusting you with my baby here, so please don’t do me dirty.”

“I promise, I won’t. And anything you need me to do around here, I will do for free.” She cried before sitting down in a bean bag chair. Her tears were pouring so I left to let her have her space.

I walked out just in time to spot Danni coming in. “What’s up girlie,” I greeted her, but stopped abruptly. “Girl, what the fuck happened to your eye? Did that nigga touch you?

“No girl. I was playing with the kids and got elbowed.”

“Are you sure?” I asked, passing her an ice bag.

“Yes I’m sure, so don’t go running to Game’s crazy ass,” she said defensively.

“Okay. You still at Mama’s house?”

“Yep, ‘bout to carry my butt back home. I’m tired of being mad at Mario.”

“Girl, you need to be mad at him forever. Burn that house down, why don’t you.”

“Girl, you’ve never been in love before so I wouldn’t expect you to understand.”

“Well, you can throw all of your little greasy insults at me, but keep that same energy with Adonis Johnson,” I joked, referencing the character played by Michael B Jordan in the movie Creed. Danni and Mario were always fighting about something.

“And by the way, I have me a little side thing, but I’m trying to be on Lauren London’s level of privacy, so he will be kept under wraps until the time is right.”

“Girl, you always been so sneaky. But anyway, are you coming to Sunday dinner? You know Mama is in an uproar about you missing the last two.”

“Yeah, I will be there since it’s my time to pick what she cooks. And you guys better be ready because it will be vegan.”

“Oh gosh, now I know I’m really going back home to my man!” Danni laughed. She left and I got back to tending to my business.
