I had to get the hell away from Game because he was making me feel tingly things. Tingly things that I shouldn’t have been feeling. Tingly things in places that shouldn’t tingle. I would be starting at Starbucks in two weeks and luckily, Kay had already given me two pair of black pants, so that was all I needed until I got paid to purchase some more.

“Girl, why are you running? I saw my brother just drop you off,” Kayla commented as she wiped a few tables. Even though Kayla hired help, she still did some of the work that she paid people to do simply because it was her shit.

“Yeah, he saw me standing at the bus stop and offered me a ride home.”

“Umm hmm, you two just keep running into each other. You know my brother is feeling you right?” She stopped and gave me her full attention.

“He is not! What would he want with the poor, homeless girl when he’s like, rich?”

“Girl, he is not rich. Wealthy and comfortable, yes. Rich, no.” She laughed.

“Well, even if he’s not, he’s way too good to be checking for someone like me.”

“Girl, someone like you? My brother has a type and it is hoes. You would be better than any of the people he’s brought home; even his baby mama.”

“Really? He doesn’t look like the type to slum.”

“Yeah girl, my brother has two daughters. I mean, his BM is cool, but got a lot of shit with her.”

“Oh, okay,” I said, not knowing why she was divulging all of this information.

“Girl, believe me when I tell you that my brother is definitely feeling you and he usually gets what he wants, so go ahead and prepare yourself.”

I walked to my room thinking about what Kayla had just said. She was wrong as wrong could be because a man of Game’s caliber would only feel like he had to help me because it was the right thing to do, not because he wanted to get to know me. I wasn’t checking for him and he definitely wasn’t checking for me.
