I walked in the house the day after Christmas to see wrapping paper still scattered throughout the floor. I had just come from a long day at work expecting to at least have dinner on the table, but who was I kidding? Danni was never the type of girl to assume the wifely duties even though she didn’t work in a pie shop. On top of that, I paid for the kids’ entire Christmas and she had the nerve to be mad when I didn’t buy her ass shit.
Today was the same as usual. I came home to her oldest taking care of my son, the house a total mess, and her laying on her ass gossiping on the phone. I greeted the kids and then went upstairs straight to her. That weak ass Real Housewives show was on and she was laughing her ass off. She was just like them bitches, but the poor version.
“Aye D, I need to talk to you for a minute,” I said, taking off my boots. My dogs were barking, but I knew I couldn’t expect anything from her ass.
“I mean now D, not after you’re done watching this bullshit.”
“Well what’s I wrong with you? You had a bad day at work or something?”
“Nah, actually I didn’t. Shit didn’t start to sour until I came here.”
“Here comes the bullshit,” she said, rolling her eyes and getting out of bed. She had on a silk nightgown that fit her like a glove. I couldn’t even lie, Danni was bad as hell. Her physical was what had kept me with her for the past two years. She was just the right amount of thick, putting me in the mind of Juju from Love and Hip Hop, the thickness and all. She put it down in the bedroom too, but I wouldn’t let that shit throw me off my game.
“So, what do you have to say Mario?” She rolled her eyes to the sky like I was the one who sat home on my ass all day doing nothing.
“Shit has got to change D. I’m not happy and apparently you’re not either. I’m holding the house down and lately you haven’t been holding down what you’re supposed to.”
“’Mario, I’m not trying to hear that. The shit’s not working because you don’t want it to. Now you’re trying to put the blame on me!” she shouted for no reason at all.
“See, this is what I didn’t want to do. Chill the fuck out. You know the kids are downstairs and can hear everything you’re saying.”
“I don’t give a fuck. They need to hear that you’re trying to break up our family because you probably got a lil’ side bitch somewhere.”
I didn’t even say anything. I just grabbed my suitcase out of the closet and began filling it with my clothing.
“You want to go, then go. Shit don’t faze me and it’s plenty willing to take your spot.”
I still didn’t say anything. I put as much in my suitcase as I could, and would get the rest later.
“I’m taking my son too, D.”
“No the hell you’re not!” She jumped in my face.
“And what the fuck are you gone do?” I challenged her. “I said I’m taking my son!”
A scowl on my face formed and she shut the fuck up and moved aside. I got Tae ready and was headed out the door.
“Mario, you’re not gone take us with you? We want to go,” Trey asked with tears in his eyes.
I felt so bad for him, but I knew D wouldn’t let me take them since they weren’t biologically mine.
“I will be back lil’ man. It’s going to be fine,” I lied.
I dapped him up and then left. All I could do was shake my head at Danni and what she had become. On the way out, I heard Trey’s cries grow louder and louder.
“Shut the hell up boy! That ain’t yo’ damn daddy!” I heard Danni yell before I finally made it to my car. Danny would never see my son again, and if I had to, I would definitely get CPS to get the other two out of there. She had better count her days.
