A fun mushroom for decoration or to play with. Sewing on a face makes it into a cute creature.
MEASUREMENTS
Approx 10cm (4in) high.
YARN
1 x 50g ball – approx 75m (81yds) – Sirdar Click Chunky with wool, 70% acrylic, 30% wool, in each of:
Yarn A: shade 142, lamb
Yarn B: shade 163, really red
ALTERNATIVE YARNS
Any chunky weight yarn will do to achieve the same size mushroom, although you could use any weight of yarn and the toy will simply come out a different size.
TENSION
Exact tension isn’t essential for this project but make sure that you crochet tightly so that the stuffing does not show.

PATTERN NOTES
Mushroom is worked in the round, do not turn throughout. Rounds worked in spirals – do not join rounds. Place a marker in first stitch of round to mark beginning of rounds and count rounds, moving marker up every round.
MUSHROOM
Using 5mm hook and yarn A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6dc into first ch made, do not join rnd.
Rnd 2: Work 2dc into each dc around. 12dc
Rnd 3: (Work 2dc into next st, 1dc) around. 18dc
Rnd 4: (Work 2dc into next st, 2dc) around. 24dc
Rnd 5: (Work 2dc into next st, 3dc) around. 30dc
Work 1 rnd straight in dc(blo), join rnd with a sl st.
Work straight in dc for five more rnds, in spirals, do not join rnds.
Next row: (3dc, dc2tog) around. 24dc
Work one row straight in dc.
Next row: (2dc, dc2tog) around. 18dc
Fasten off yarn A, join in yarn B.
Stuff base of mushroom before crocheting cap.
Work one row straight in dc.
Next row: Work 2dc into each dc around. 36dc
Next row: (Work 2dc into next st, 1dc) around. 54dc
Work three rows straight in dc(blo).
Begin to decrease as folls:
Row 1: (4dc, dc2tog) around. 45dc
Work 1 row straight in dc. Begin to stuff cap.
Row 3: (3dc, dc2tog) around. 36dc
Row 4: (2dc, dc2tog) around. 27dc
Row 5: (Dc, dc2tog) around. 18dc
Dc2tog around until hole closed.
Fasten off yarn and stitch rem hole closed.
FINISHING
Sew buttons (or beads) to cap for spots.
Embroider a simple face on the stalk of the mushroom.
