Mom’s Meatloaf

Everyone loves this meatloaf — it just feels like home! For less saturated fat, mix ground beef with ground veal or ground turkey breast.

Serves 6-8

Ingredients

1 small (6-ounce) can tomato sauce

1 medium onion, chopped finely

14 cup bread crumbs

Juice of 1 lemon

13 cup brown sugar

1 egg

1 tablespoon parsley

Salt and pepper to taste

2 pounds ground round or sirloin

3 tablespoons ketchup

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.

  2. In medium bowl, combine tomato sauce, chopped onion, bread crumbs, lemon juice, sugar, egg, and spices.

  3. Add meat in small chunks, and mix.

  4. Shape into a loaf and place on a broiling pan.

  5. Brush with ketchup. Bake 1 hour.
