What better serves the common good, swords in the hands of the few, or in the hands of the many? Simple logic would seem to suggest both models are equal, that so long as we are more good than not, decency will prevail just the same, in time.
In time… A handy measure to those afforded eternity, but the stricken care not the odds of being struck. What if this sole sword should fall into the hands of a power so absolute, so devastating, that humanity cannot recover? What will time do with naught but ashes?
Clear as the answer may be, I find myself nonetheless unsettled. What if I am mistaken? What if the mighty few are all that hold our world together? Do I risk more in acting, or in not?
