In this exercise we will build a collage on a plastic sheet with previously dyed paper towels and fuse them with an iron and parchment paper. The results can be used in a variety of ways including art journal covers, handmade greeting cards, collage pieces or as a substrate for digital printing.
Collage Pauge matte
plastic page protector
trowel palette knife
dyed paper towel prints
foam brush
iron and parchment paper
Brush a layer of Collage Pauge matte onto a plastic page protector. Place a piece of dyed paper towel on the medium and brush another layer of Collage Pauge over the paper towel to seal it. Smooth out the paper with your fingers to remove any air bubbles.
Cover the other half of the background with Collage Pauge using a foam brush. Overlap another printed paper towel on the previous collage paper. Drizzle more Collage Pauge over the top.
Spread Collage Pauge over the top of the collage with the foam brush. Again check for air bubbles and smooth out with your fingers. Set aside to dry.
If the collage has a heavy texture, iron it to smooth it out. Peel the collage from the plastic backing and place it between two pieces of parchment paper. Iron using a medium setting to press out the texture.
