Epilogue

COLIN STRETCHED BESIDE her mailbox. It was Thursday, and she’d run her normal ten miles plus one. She never adequately cooled herself off, but honestly, who cared?

Pulling the mail from the box, she noticed a bright red envelope addressed to Colin Davies of ClickandWed.com.

Cracking open the envelope, she walked up the drive to her modest lake cabin and sat at the table on the back porch. Pulling out the card, she smiled at the picture of a bride standing with a groom she thought she would never see happily matched.

Their steps had been turned in sporadically at first, and then had become more and more steady.

She worried there for a bit, that she wouldn’t be able to pair Jeremy Akers with anyone.

But there he was in the wedding photographs, and the couple was elegant and full of happiness. Colin couldn’t help but choke up as she realized that she helped them find each other. Matchmaking never grew tiring.

The note in the card was written with loopy k’s and curly n’s.

Thank you so much for helping us find each other. We hope that you have even the smallest amount of happiness as we do. We’re grateful you were able to bring this light into our lives. If we ever get a chance to meet, it will be with a hug. Thank you again, so much, for all that you have done for us. We don’t even know you, yet we feel like you’re our fairy godmother.

My best-friend will be signing up with ClickandWed. Please, help her find the perfect match. She’s more special than anyone you’ve ever known. I value her above all else.

PS. We would love to offer a discount to any of the couples you match to come and have a wedding at Forever Akers. Happiness, like ours, should be shared.

Thank you again,

The Akers

Colin glanced at the date of the postmark and winced. She’d spent the whole of the day avoiding the anniversary of his death, but it always caught her. As she sat there, staring out at the calm Pend Oreille Lake, she realized she might never be able to escape it.

A love like that wasn’t meant to be repeated.

She would be happy just helping others find their happy-ever-afters.

ClickandWed had so many more to match.
