Included in this novel, indeed a part of the inspiration for this book, is an excerpt from the poem, “Song of the Open Road” by Walt Whitman. Whitman continually edited this poem throughout his life and the version included may not be the one with which you are most familiar. Regardless of what version of the poem you love, I hope Whitman’s rousing words will inspire you on your own metaphorical journey through this world.
