Below is a list of seven questions that you should ask your money manager before you use his or her services.

1. How do you get paid? How much of your income comes from investing and how much comes from advising others?

2. Are you invested in this yourself?

3. Where will my money end up? Show me the money.

4. Is this investment suitable for my age, assets, and risk tolerance?

5. Show me your mother’s portfolio.

6. Let’s make a list of all the pros and cons of this investment.

7. How diversified am I? What percent of my wealth is tied up in this investment?
