Acknowledgments

Taylor's existential ideas in this volume have been inspired by Jean-Paul Sartre's "little gray book": The Wisdom of Jean-Paul Sartre (New York: Philosophical Library), which includes selections from his best-known work, Being and Nothingness.

Richard Ellenson invented the Tango speech device in 2006, after this book is set, and apologies for sending the invention back into the early 2000s in this story.

Gratitude to the Canada Council for the Arts, for supporting the development of this book.

Many thanks to Taylor Crowe for his brilliant cover art and for his inspirational work on the subject of autism (see http://www.taylorcrowe.com).

Appreciation to Dr. Tina Arora who served as a consultant on the authenticity of Taylor's perseverations, special thanks to Dr. Culley Carson-Grefe for her timely and accurate advice on the French language, and gratitude to Padmaja Sarathy along with the Association for Childhood Education International Special Interest Forum for their ongoing work and inspiration.

For all their love and support, thanks to Sandra and Paul Beckett, Liliane Marco, and my family and friends. Special thanks to Connor for his savvy proofreading, and to Dwayne for his steadfast encouragement and ready ear.

Thanks to Richard Dionne, Cheryl Chen, and the rest of the team at Red Deer for their solid support. To my editor Peter Carver: heartfelt thanks for being such a tremendous co-walker in this sustained journey we have had together with Taylor Jane.
