Step One
Place a leader string of a contrasting color on the warping board the length of the warp that you wish to wind.
Wind the warp on warping board making a cross at each turn at the top.
Tie a choke around the entire warp, except the leader string, with a two-foot long piece of yarn about two feet from the cross.
Step Two
Secure the rigid heddle in a reed stand.
Holding the cross in your left hand, take the warp to the rigid heddle.
Cut top of the cross so that the threads hang individually.
Thread the rigid heddle in the appropriate order.
Step Three
Place the rigid heddle in the loom, making sure that the loose ends of the warp are facing the back beam.
Tie the choke to the front beam.
Tie the loose ends of the warp to the back apron rod in one-inch bundles.
Cut the choke tie and wind the warp one rotation, securing heavy paper or sticks between the layers of threads.
Wind for a few more rotations, then pull the warp with firm tension adding paper when necessary. Repeat until the end of the warp is pulled to the front beam.
Tie the warp to the front apron rod in one-inch sections using a square knot. Adjust for even tension and secure the knots.
Your loom is warped. Weave on!
