Combine a smoky BBQ flavor with the crunch of roasted chickpeas and you get a tasty, southern-inspired snack! These chickpeas are not only delicious but they are also a healthy treat loaded with protein.
Ingredients
2 15-ounce cans chickpeas (also known as garbanzo beans)
2 teaspoons brown sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon ground white pepper
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon cumin
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
2 tablespoons olive oil

Preheat oven to 400°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Open the cans of chickpeas and empty them into the colander.
Keeping the chickpeas in the colander, rinse with cool water.
Line a clean surface with paper towels and spread the chickpeas on top.
Allow to sit for about 30 minutes to dry almost completely.
While the chickpeas dry, make your flavoring. Combine remaining ingredients in a mixing bowl. Stir until smooth.
When the chickpeas are mostly dry, transfer them to the mixing bowl. Stir to coat evenly.
Spread the chickpeas evenly on the baking sheet.
Bake in the oven for about 45 minutes, or until golden brown and hardened.
Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
