If the activities outlined in the LAP are to be maximally effective, attempts must be made to accommodate the variability of student interests. The implication here is that the content of the materials should be relatable to the student's life. Thus, not only will different students in the same class be more interested in and stimulated by certain content than by other types of material, but students in different schools and different areas of the country will have different backgrounds which will necessitate the selection of content dealing with vocabulary and situations with which they are familiar.
