Goals

To a great extent, the content of the classroom activities and the materials selected will depend upon the student's objective in studying a second language. If he is primarily a reader who wants to enjoy the literature of a foreign country, he will desire a course emphasizing literature. If she is a young soprano hopeful of a career in singing, she will be most interested in perfecting her pronunciation and enunciation. These goals and many more place an obligation upon teachers to search for a variety of course content in an attempt to reach all interests. If they have the energy and facilities, teachers may want to establish a variety of courses or mini-courses to attempt to reach all these individuals.
