**The FW-190 “yellow noses” belonged to Jagdgeschwader JG-26, a famous Luftwaffe Fighter Wing based in Holland that had formerly been commanded by Adolf Galland. Research by Ivo M. De Jong, a modern day Dutch Army major and aviation historian, confirms the participation of FW-190s and ME-109s from JG-26 in this battle with the 303rd, as well as fighters from JG-1, the other Jagdgeschwader assigned coastal defense duties in the Netherlands and Northern France.
