*The 303^rd’s target was the same Kugelfischer ball bearing plant that the Group had bombed on August 17^th. According to Georg Schäfer, whose father owned the factory, the October 14^th bombing could not have come at a worse time. The night before the factory had received a precious shipment of fuel oil which completely filled a large tank on the plant premises. The bombs exploded the tank, creating a massive fire that could be seen for miles.
