You are going to follow the same process as we did before except this time instead of looking at titles, you’re going to focus solely on the category listing and the rank.
So after choosing your main category on the left hand side go ahead and click on one of the best sellers in the Top 100 specifically the ones sitting in the top 1 and 100 positions.
After you’ve clicked on the book go ahead and scroll down and look at the ranking at the bottom of the book page.
You can see that it is either a low or high number usually sitting in the range of #1 as far as #600,000 or more. You want to aim for the 100th book in the category to be below #25,000 and let us explain this so there is no confusion.
Anything below #25,000 means the whole category is profitable enough for you to make money inside of there. Now if you click on the first book of a category and its ranked #2,500 or lower then you’re in the gold because you can publish here and cash out.
Warning: Do not write in the niches outside of these guidelines unless you feel they are going to benefit you somehow (i.e.: using the book as a business card or showing people you are in the TOP 10 of your category.).
Like we said before, it all depends on why you’re writing. Not everyone is writing for passion or profit, but to simply have credibility and build rapport for their current customer base. If that is the case then you could write for that category and become a best-selling author over night with some marketing strategies we will discuss in a later chapter.
