Solution—The Murder of Judge Waterman

Morris said the masked intruder shot the judge and ran from the house. Fordney knew Waterman had been killed while phoning him. The chauffeur said he dashed around the house after the murderer and had been searching for him until the Professor arrived.

Had he been telling the truth, the telephone could not have been in the cabinet with the door closed, as Fordney found it.
