KILL CRAZY
Professor Fordney, applying the new science of endocrine-criminology, studied photos of the four brutish faces. All of them were killers, but one ruthlessly and without reason had shot to death his friend, Sheriff Dan Flynn.
For ten days the kill-crazy mob had wantonly maimed and murdered, had terrorized the northwestern part of the state. The four vicious killers were Moxie Moggs, Pinky Hunt, Mike Cleary and Jake Barron.
Applying his knowledge of endocrine-criminology to the photos, Fordney picked the likely leader. Confident that he would attempt a sensational break-through he ordered a close road block, then he and his men closed in, narrowing the gang’s area of operation.
Caught in a police trap, the four killed two more men before they were captured. Sullen and defiant they refused to talk. From certain sources, however, Fordney learned the following:
1. One of the four always carries a knife instead of a gun.
2. Hunt’s uncle is a fence and married to the sister of the man who killed Sheriff Flynn. The knife-carrier and Hunt are blond.
3. Moxie Moggs and the knife-carrier had great confidence in Barron’s driving ability and insisted against the killer’s mild objection that he devote himself exclusively to driving the mob’s getaway car.
4. The knife-carrier and Flynn’s assassin have been friends for years.
5. Recently Barron and the killer pulled a stick-up unknown to the other two.
Armed with his data Professor Fordney had the murderer of Sheriff Flynn dragged from his cell and brought before him.
