Solution—Mystery in the Dell

In (1 & 2) we learn that the girl who leased the farm is neither Myra Bubley nor Carmen Marzoni. Consequently, neither has blue eyes. Also we see that as Sylvia Lane did not lease the farm, she is not the girl with blue eyes.

Hence the girl who leased the farm is Bernice Sloan. But Bernice is not the dead girl, as the murdered girl has brown eyes and the girl who leased the farm is blue-eyed.

In (4) we observe that Sylvia Lane is neither the dead girl nor the hypnotist.

And it is obvious in (5) that neither Carmen Marzoni nor Bernice Sloan (the blue-eyed girl) is the hypnotist. Therefore Myra Bubley is the hypnotist.

As neither Sylvia Lane nor Bernice Sloan is the dead girl and as the murdered girl was the subject of the hypnotist (Myra Bubley) the murdered girl is Carmen Marzoni.
