MARQ DE VILLIERS is a celebrated author and journalist. He has written fifteen books, including Water: The Fate of our Most Precious Resource, winner of the Governor General’s Award for nonfiction and the Canadian Science Writers Award; Sahara: The Life of the Great Desert; Windswept: The Story of Wind and Weather; and A Dune Adrift: The Strange Origins and Curious History of Sable Island, winner of the Evelyn Richardson Prize. In 2010, he was appointed to the Order of Canada. He lives in Eagle Head, on Nova Scotia’s south shore.
