Dear Mum, today after school we went to the Koch farm, the Favrettos, the Talbots, the Waddles and the Riccardis. My legs feel as if they’re falling off after so much pedalling.
But we’re getting around the roosters, and they’ve all agreed to help. You should see how they strut once they get their badges. So far, they’re proudly claiming to be a Barbie air hostess, a doctor, a paramedic, a pilot and a journalist.
Clara takes it very seriously. I try not to laugh. Tomorrow we go to the McAllisters, Digby and Auntie Gina.

PS. Shorty Davis was rostered to watch Yabby Creek Road last night, and he got drunk and arrested Mrs Fullerton for acting suspiciously. Dad had to get up in the middle of the night to sort it out. I wish I’d seen it.
Dad says the roster is causing more trouble than it’s worth.
