If you’re on NH-8, heading for Surat and the snacks you’re carrying can’t do justice to your hunger pangs for another 80 kms, then stop at the Nyay Mandir (Temple of Law). It’s spacious, very clean, and well- lit, with quick and attentive service. The menu is a bold mix as Kathiyawadi Thalis jostle for space with Chinese Thalis (food diplomacy at its best!), assorted sandwiches, sizzlers, and the usual Idli-Dosa etc. Try the Special Sizzler, which comes with a steaming mix of every possible vegetable mixed with noodles or the delicious Mix Bhajjiya, vegetables deep-fried in thick chickpea batter and served with deliciously spicy mint chutney. The Butter Paneer Ghee Cheese Kulcha—tasty bites, which magically turn to rocks inside your stomach!—is a tribute to their dairy farm which has over 300 cows.
Started in 1983 in what was a pretty desolate forest, this large complex now offers many things to a traveller. There is a shop selling packaged health foods and music CDs, a 24-hour coffee shop, a large area for weddings etc., and a beautiful marble temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. They have a 30- room hotel and also run a 24-hour free ambulance service for people injured in accidents on the highway. Eat-Pray-Sing-Love-Heal-Sleep!
