Maharaja is aptly named as it offers a vast range of options (Indian, Continental, and Chinese dishes) fit for a fat king. Choose from a 12-page long menu to eat in either of two indoor, non-smoking family dining areas. The fiery red chilli paste in the Ghee Roast Crab really brings out the flavour of the sweet crab meat or you can try a choice of fish in the fragrant and creamy Alipiyo Gassi—a ginger and onion rich gravy. Love strong flavours? Try the Nippat, a dish of sardines fried with red chillies and sesame seeds that do nothing to disguise the strong fishy taste. The Hingauda, gravy rich in the fragrance of hing (asafoetida) can be tried with Prawns or Pomfret. The Paneer Ghee Roast (dry and chewy paneer!) and the Gobi-88 rely on the strong flavours of red chilli and garlic paste but besides these, there aren’t many local options for vegetarians. Lots of paneer and mixed vegetable dishes like Kormas and Pasandas available though. Despite the fairly expensive menu, it’s always crowded thanks to the relatively upscale settings and the efficient service.
Unwind at the bar after a hectic day or relax while enjoying a meal in the windy roof terrace with a great view of the neighbourhood.
