Situated on the first floor, the whole front of this eatery is windows looking out onto the busy streets below. Enjoy the cool breeze and people watching as you wait for your meal, which arrives pretty darn quickly. The Crispy Chicken (or Vegetables) in Hot Garlic Sauce is a ‘must try’ here and is a crunchy, super spicy, fun-to-eat dish. The Honey Chicken and its vegetarian sibling the Honey Chilli Chips are very popular with their main customers, i. e. school children thanks to the sweet, almost caramelized coating that cuts the spice of chillies. Other favourites include Fried Momos, Tom Yam Thukpa (a collision of Thai and Tibetan tastes), and Pork Shapta (a Tibetan stir-fried meat dish). The food is not gourmet and does not attempt to be as what they focus on is hot, fresh, exciting tastes served quickly in a relaxed, well-lit atmosphere. Take time out to chat with the lovely owner Yankee—as she is popularly called—about her travels during the break.
The Rice Bowl is beloved to many customers who first ate here as students in one of Mussoorie’s many residential schools and have kept coming back ever since. The restaurant operates according to the school calendar so it stays shut during the long December-early March vacation.
The concert at Woodstock was sooooper fine!
Even though it wasn’t the one from 1969.
At the Menu Committee Meeting we conducted a poll,
The result was unanimous...it was the Rice Bowl!!!
