This tropical fish, which you might recognize from a Disney animated film, has unique stripes at the mouth and tail. Create the darkest shading of the face in two dark layers, and tone the body with side-to-side strokes so it’s darker at the edges. |

1 Draw a cup shape with a triangular base. |

2 Turn your paper to the right, and draw the fish’s face at the open end of the cup. |

3 Add the top dorsal fin, the pelvic fin, the bottom anal fin, and an eye. |

4 Draw the lines of the face and the pectoral, or side, fin. Draw the thin tang blade at the base of the tail. |

Fun Fact
The blue tang fish—also called blue doctor, blue barber, and surgeonfish—gets its name from the razor-sharp spines, or tangs, on either side of the base of its tail.
5 Shade the D shape in the tail, the body, and the face. Add a line on the dorsal fin. |
