how to draw a | puppy |
Steps: 5
Difficulty:
Puppies are adorable and fun to draw. Here, the front view of the pup’s head is a foreshortened view, or turned toward you, while the body is sideways. Create depth between the nose and eyes by shading dark to light in gradations. |
1 Draw the outline of the tail, back, and hind legs using a broken line. |
2 Draw the shape of the head; add the basic outlines of the eyes, nose, muzzle, and ears; and draw the front legs level with the hind paws. |
3 Fill in the broken lines, and refine the ears, eyes, nose, and muzzle. |
4 Shade the head and body with strokes that follow the directions of the contours. Add the shadow at the paws. |
5 Deepen and refine shaded areas to create depth, and erase highlights in the eyes, nose, brow, and muzzle. |
Fun Fact
Head bowed and hind end raised is puppy talk for “Let’s play!” It’s called a play bow, and the dog might also bare its teeth in a goofy grin and run away or jump around in circles in an effort to get you to join in the fun.
