Acknowledgments

I can’t ever thank editor Kerri Buckley and agent Sara Megibow enough for seeing my vision through with this series. I wanted to tell a series of stories about what power looked like when women wielded it, and never once did these powerful ladies ask me to compromise my vision. Their belief in me made me believe in me, a strong elixir for a debut author. Thank you, friends. I can’t wait to see what we get up to next.

I tackled cultures that weren’t my own in this book, which is widely intimidating. Thank you Angélica Lozano-Alonso for your help with Mexican culture and language, and thank you Jessica Snyder for helping me properly and respectfully write about the military. I wanted to showcase both cultures with infinite respect. If I was successful, it’s to their credit, and if you think I failed, it’s my fault.

Thank you to Dreamscape Media and narrator Scarlette Hayes for the phenomenal audiobooks. Scarlette, you made my books come alive. You made me laugh and blush and cry as if I didn’t know what was going to happen next! When I re-read these books now, I hear your gorgeous voice in my head.

And, as always, thank you to Peter, Gabriel and Simon. Look what you helped me do! During a pandemic!!!! Thank you for being my biggest cheerleaders.
