You Are the Automotive Technician

A 2010 Chevy Equinox comes in with an engine noise that is more apparent when the engine gets up to operating temperature. Once the engine reaches operating temperature, the valve cover has a metallic noise coming from it. What should the technician do first?

1. Determine whether the noise is from the timing chain because of wear.
2. Check the oil and fill it if it is low.
3. Replace the valve cover because it is making the noise.
