APPROXIMATE TIME:

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

+ Just some rubber bands and your human hand

LET’S BEGIN

LOCKING AND LOADING

1.  Make your hand into a simple gun shape with your thumb and index finger extended and your three remaining fingers curled into your palm.

2.  Hold one end of a rubber band with your pinky finger, then stretch it back and around your thumb while positioning the other end on the tip of your pointer finger.

3.  Use your pointer finger to aim at the target, then simply open your pinky finger to fire the shot off.

ALSO TRY: With a slight variation in your shooting technique, you can easily switch from single shot to semiautomatic to shotgun blast. Start by loading a rubber band the same way you did before, then put two more rounds in the chamber with a second and third band on your fourth and middle fingers. Fire in quick succession for semiautomatic, or all at once. With this setup you can fire at multiple targets without having to stop and reload after each shot.

HELPFUL HINT: Make your targets out of construction paper and paint stirrers if you already have them lying around, but anything that’s not breakable or alive will work. Try starting off a domino chain or constructing zombie targets! The world is your rubber band shooting range. Besides, you already have the most important tool on hand.

FUN FACT: Rubber bands were patented in England on March 17, 1845. The US Postal Service is said to be one of the biggest consumers of rubber bands on earth, using them to sort and group mail.
