About the Author

John B. Arden, Ph.D., is the Director of Training for the Northern California region in mental health for the Kaiser Permanente Medical Centers. In this capacity, he oversees one of the largest mental health training programs in the world, which trains 64 postdoctoral psychology residents and 50 interns per year. During his 38 years of experience in the mental health field, he has worked as a psychologist, chief psychologist, and training director, and he has taught in universities and colleges.

He has been fortunate to work in a system that has researched and offered the very latest treatment modalities for anxiety. This book is based on his work with people who have anxiety disorders. Part of this work has centered on teaching a class for people with anxiety disorders, and much of the information contained in the book reflects the lessons that been found to be instrumentative in helping people overcome anxiety.

He is the author or coauthor of 13 other books, including Rewire Your Brain, The Brain Bible, Conquering Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Brain-Based Therapy—Adults, and Brain-Based Therapy—Child. John lives in Northern California.
