Woo-hoo! Seth has finally gotten his happy ending and Jude’s family is gradually being restored. I just love that, don’t you? Set at Christmastime in the spectacular desert, this story strums all my happy notes. When I traveled to Death Valley on a research expedition, it was so much fun to learn about donkeys and donkey rescue. Did you know that donkeys in Death Valley are a non-native species? They can eat an average of 6,000 pounds of forage per burro per year! There are several agencies working to relocate these animals to mitigate environmental damage and care for their health. Closer to home, I found another rescue agency that provided some advice on the ins and outs of donkeys. Thank you to Zeb’s Wish Equine Sanctuary in Oregon and God bless the work you do to rehabilitate special-needs equines. As always, I deeply appreciate you, my dear readers. Thank you for coming along on this fifth Death Valley adventure! If you’d like to sign up for my newsletter at danamentink.com, I’ll keep you posted about the series and share some photos from my latest Death Valley excursion.
God bless!
