CYCLES

I am Sojourner Truth.

On a journey seeking truth.

I have met king and queens

Disguised as pimps and prostitutes

Murderers and thieves

I don’t judge

The only difference between a hustler and a minister is their choice

Their call

See, we all wear masks

And at some point, we all get tired

Time is the greatest exposer

No, I don’t judge

Rather, I give things time to expose themselves

Friends, truth, love, purpose

Purpose

A close rival of mine

I have been on a quest for purpose ever since I can remember

Fighting, toiling, debating, raging war on any threat

I am tired.

I surrender

Just when I lay down and dug my grave

Knock, knock

I open the door and there it was in all its glory

Purpose found me

I am a writer

A poet

An advocate

A social commentator

A lover of truth

A sharer of light

I am a voice in the wilderness crying out

The journey, much like fingerprints, is unique

Each individual carries a piece of the map

No, I don’t judge

My enemy could turn out to be my greatest asset

So I sit back and let the story unfold

Annotating what I see and how the Holy Spirit speaks to me

Life happens in cycles, much like seasons.

The wise pays attention and moves with the time.
