GOLDEN BUFFALO

When hi’es’tzie walked away, Golden Buffalo saw in his steps a defeated man although he himself did not yet know it. He would lead the blue soldiers to their death. The prophecy now revealed the last bit of itself. With the buffalo gone, his people were conquered and would not be able to rise up again. He, Golden Buffalo, had named himself after something that no longer existed.

After this nothing more would happen.

He wished to be like the old men riding off to final battle. Hi’es’tzie was no worse than another, and so Golden Buffalo would follow him down into the valley from which there was no return. There would be no one to shout his feats of bravery, no seed to carry his name. He did not belong to the world of the future.
