A MESSAGE FROM ANNABETH AND CONNOR

One of the most fun ways to start writing a story is to come up with the BIG IDEAS first—and then discover the rest along the way! Angie came up with so many amazing BIG IDEAS that she set us up to write a really exciting story. But there were still a lot of questions to answer and new details to invent. For instance, Angie had the BIG IDEA that a goblin stole the Crystal Crown. Then we had to figure out WHO the goblin was and WHY he stole the crown. (We also had to figure out how many turkey legs the goblins could eat during a single feast!) Angie also had the BIG IDEA that monsters were threatening the town of Hillview. Then we got to invent WHO the monsters were and WHY they were threatening the town. There were a lot of different questions that we answered while writing the book. No matter what, we always came back to Angie’s BIG IDEAS for inspiration. So even if you have questions about some of your own BIG IDEAS, you can still start writing. You’ll be surprised at how much you can learn along the way.
